Having braces doesn’t mean you can’t eat any of your favourite foods. You will need to keep a close eye on some of those hard sticky foods.

In time, you should be able to eat most foods, however within the first week of having your braces put on, you may find it difficult eating certain foods.

Here are some easy meal ideas to get you through the first week.

• Wraps – thinly sliced roast beef with tomato, cucumber, cheese and mustard
• Tuna salad – tuna, lettuce, thinly sliced cucumber and capsicum, grated cheese, beetroot and grated carrot
• Pasta bake
• Sushi rolls
• Soup (pea and ham, pumpkin, vegetable) and soft bread for dipping

• Water
• Green tea

DINNERmenu idea dinner

• Chicken meatballs with pasta
• Omelette with ham, cheese and tomato
• Warm chicken (thinly sliced) with salad on the side – lettuce, grated cheese, grated carrot, thinly sliced cucumber and capsicum, beetroot and sprouts
• Steamed Fish served with mashed sweet potato and peas
• Baked sweet potato, mushrooms sprinkled with feta
