Dr Angie Phelan
BDSc (Hon)(Qld), DClinDent (Ortho)(Syd), MOrthRCS (Ed), MRACDS (Ortho)
Dr Phelan lived and attended school in Brisbane. Angie qualified as a Dentist in 2005 with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland. Angie practiced as a general dentist in Brisbane and was involved with the school dental service.
Angie then moved to Sydney to pursue her passion for orthodontics, and in 2010 obtained her Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics from the University of Sydney. In the same year, she was awarded the Australian Society of Orthodontists (NSW) prize for the best clinically treated case by a postgraduate orthodontist.
Angie has also completed examinations to become a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in the Discipline of Orthodontics. She was granted Membership from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the Special Stream of Orthodontics (MRACDS).
Angie is accredited by the Australasian Orthodontic Board and was awarded the Australasian Orthodontic Board Clinical Award for the best clinically treated case by a postgraduate orthodontist for NSW in 2011.
Angie is committed to providing optimal patient care and believes that an interest in research in the field of orthodontics is fundamental for a high-quality orthodontic practice. Angie has completed research at the University of Sydney and received the University of Sydney Research Presentation Award in 2010 and a Special Merit Award from the Australian Society of Orthodontists in 2011 for this work.
Angie will be practicing in orthodontics with a particular interest in new technology and aesthetic appliances. Angie is an Invisalign accredited Orthodontist. She has a keen interest in Invisalign having completed research on techniques that can optimise the delivery of this type of appliance.
Angie is currently involved in research in facial growth and development with the University of Michigan, America. She was awarded the Australian Society of Orthodontists Sam Bulkley Travelling Fellowship in support of this work.
Angie enjoys keeping fit, travelling and spending time with her family and friends.
